I really want the updated spider wheels and brakes for my Chim, (as I have spent over £2500 on my PC, my fiancee isn't having any of it though!!)

But, I did have a thought about this deal, and how seemimgly reasonable it it,,, I have read threads on here complaining about the lack of older Chim wheels available now from TVR. Do you think that TVR have this offer for us Chim owners because with the new wheels, TVR keep the old ones, which can then be refurbished and added to stock, as they cannot get the manufactured anymore (so I believe!)
Does that make any sense, or do I still need more coffee to wake me up!!!!

Chris, I don't think the wheels are p/ex prices. But I get your drift - maybe TVR (or dealer) would buy them? Otherwise advertise them here!

p.s. - yes I think it's a fantastic bargain but I just haven't got around 1800 (including fitting) to spend on mine. And I would need to upgrade my rears first too so it would be over £2k for me.

Stud pattern is different, there are solutions but they're all a pain

Search the archives, plenty of detail there

Ben, I think he's considering the full upgrade but will have four std wheels left over. I believe he thought that TVR may have kept them to sell on as refurbished std wheels.

That's correct Dodger, I thought that maybe TVR are carrying out this initiative because of the seemingly lack of older Chimeara wheels they (don't) have in stock, and , hence the new wheel discount, as they keep the older wheels that are replaced (as far as I'm aware)

Chris, as I mentioned below I don't think they keep your old wheels. There's nothing mentioned in the blurbs and if it were me, I wouldn't let them have them!

There are some exchange items in the package.

Didn't ask what they were I'm afraid, but I seem to remember 6 items at £60 each, so you pay an extra £360 which you get back eventually!

That'd be the 4 hubs I'd guess, plus ??

Maybe they only want the front wheels back!

Cheers

Yeh, the hub carriers are p/ex because you get new bearings and 5-lug hubs and discs. Hmmm, thought maybe it's the discs as well but that makes 8. Have another look - some PH-ers have had this done already, ask them! I won't because I have early rears which need updating before I can p/ex them! All too complicated and expensive!

The six items for exchange are the four hubs and the rear output shafts(these have to be shortened slightly to allow the centre caps of the new wheels to fir on)
