Just bought a 1.8T A3 Sport, and can best describe the performance as "brisk" on a good day. I'm not at all disappointed with the car, just think that a few more horses could make it feel and drive a whole lot nicer.

Can anyone recommend from experience a reputable tuner for a "chip" upgrade to 180-200bhp (if possible) that can reliably deliver the desired performance. Because of the mileage that I do, however, I can only consider an upgrade that does not damage fuel economy drastically .... I cannot sacrifice economy by 10mpg for an upgrade.

Does it matter that the car is knocking on 100k? It's well maintained, and in fine health.

Revo have a good reputation with that engine.

Mielage won't be an issue as long as it's been well looked after.

Can people who have bought the Revo "stick" alter as many cars as they like once they've purchased it .... assuming I've understood the product correctly.

You very often find a mapping/chipping will actually improve fuel economy, so it's win win! I have no personal experience, but agree that Revo always tend to get the nod in front of the others (AMD, Jabbasport). Some places will even do you a 5 hour free trial.

I beleive you can.
sometimes you get the odd one on Ebay as you cannot take the software with you that is loaded onto the car but you can sell the dongle on for use on another car.

Anyone got one, and tried this successfully, and would like to try it again wink

sorry i just want make it clear that you need to buy the software first for the car and have it installed, then you can use any dongle to alter the mode setting

And to clarify it further the REVO SPS box that comes with the remap is only capable of either adjusting the boost and timing settings within the REVO loaded map or from switching between standard software and there own software.

I can go into all the detail if you want but needless to say you will not get any gains by buying the REVO SPS dongle and not the software as they work together not separately

Thanks for the clariffication! Actually makes sense, as I couldn't believe anyone would market a magic wand that you could chip the whole country for £500

Hi Matt, I have the same car and asked a similar question here. On the K03s turbo you can achieve 230bhp I believe.

Take a read of my post see if it helps in anyway

Have a look at the APR range of re-maps.
Very reliable good power gains plus you can switch between maps.
If you have a car with cruise control and you have more than one map installed using the cruise buttons you can select the chosen map stock, unleaded, super unleaded or race fuel for the track days etc.

Not sure if they have been able to get that to work on the NON DBW cars I have there software and have been very happy not the biggest numbers but a nice power delivery comapred to stock.

I had a RedDotRacing 210remap on my K03 APP Leon. Pulled 208 and 222lb/ft and for £250 I was happy. The K03 wont flow more than 210-215, as already mentioned the K03S will flow slightly more. Friend of mine has a Stage 2 REVO Leon with downpipe, 4bar FPR, sports cat, exhaust, filter etc (basically modded as far as you can go with standard turbo)and that pulled 226bhp and 232lb/ft

Re fuel consumption, just confused how a remap with over 200bhp can be more economical than the standard 150bhp. The gain in power is just coming from forcing more fuel and air into the engine and sometimes spooling the turbo earlier in the rev range. Am I misssing something? The production 225 version of this engine has a combined of about 30, the 150 35.

Re-maps can give better fuel consumption because with the increase in performance means you are unable to keep your foot to the floor for as long. Manufacturers program to optimise the settings to run a wide range of Octane for the whole of the world , so dodgy cheap fuel and big temperature range. Then they optimise to get good fuel figures for the Government tests. This does not make the engine run at its most efficient for UK weather and fuel. A Re-map is a compromise set for UK conditions so better torque and a smoother power curve result in more efficient running and lower consumption. You can of course easily ruin the fuel gains very quickly if you can use the extra power.

I had a mk4 gti a few years back and had it revo tuned up to 230bhp with a new dump vlave and fuel rail. The mpg went down from about 33mpg to 30mpg, so not a massive decrease.

Had the TT Roadster 150 remapped at Kim Collins in Hayward's Heath they took it to 220bhp transformed the car mid range was excellent loads more overtaking power and MPG was better on out tour of France and Spain quite often hit 40mpg one run taking it easy in the sunshine I hit 46mpg all day long.
