Apologies if this is a silly question but I'm new to these things! I've got this module (pictured) in my CS, previous owner was unsure what it was also. I assume its a lap timer from circuit work, was planning on removing it along with any relevant wiring. This sound reasonable?

It will give you laptimes around a track but you must have the beacon that comes with it to make it work that you place on the pitwall somewhere.( not on trackdays tho, you will be hung !!)
As you go past, it will give you your current laptime.
Hope this helps.

As Tony said its a lap timer, think you will find it will work and won't need the beacon to put on the pit wall as circuits have a timing beam that will start and stop the timer, you might need a battery to put in the timer if it hasn't been used for years!!!

Slightly contrary to the above, you may not need to invest in a beacon, try sticking a new battery in it and you may well get lap timing for free as, in my experience, there tends to be compatible beacons at trackside anyway. For the price of battery, there's not a lot of downside. Of course, if you are running datalogging separately, don't bother and resell it, cheers Geoff (Rad1cal)
