The chimps gear knob has started to get extremely hot after about 30 mins running. Any ideas?

I've done nothing yet but think no gear box oil.

Chimps aren't meant to run for so long - let him swing in the trees and eat bananas - the wind between his hairy little legs will keep his knob cool!

Dodger - where's your passport photo?

Check the oil level as a matter of course, in fact if you have any sense you will change the oil if you do not know how long it has been in there but the gear knob is made of metal and will get hot. Change the oil, oil is cheap and gearboxes are not but the gear knob will always get hot unless you change it for a nasty plastic one

Try turning the heater off? The two air vents are facing right at the gearstick in a Chimaera. In a Griff, it's the handbrake that gets hot.

Besides, what's wrong with a hot knob???

Posting by committee, don't you just love it? (lots of love from Joospeed and the Carzees)
