Clio V6 Brake Calipers

We have a Mk 1 2001 Clio V6 and appear to have a damaged seal on the piston on one of the rear calipers. They are marked as Bendix BXF 0181 but we don't seem to be able to find a repair kit for them.

Has anyone else had the same problem or know of anywhere that might do them?

Also should the pistons be all bar impossible to get back in, tried everything with no success so far!

Look on www.brakeparts.co.uk or www.biggred.co.uk they should be able to supply a seal(s). The rear callipers were OE fit on some Citroen models.

You're having problems pushing the pistons back in because they need to be rotated and pushed back at the same time. The easiest way to sort this out is to buy a piston wind back tool if you're going to be doing this fairly often.

Thanks Gnu, Would this method of retracting the piston be the same method, as i have completly dis-assembled the caliper to clean and dress the piston,as it was horrible, the retracting screw that fits in the back of the piston won't reach until i get the piston pushed in further thats me problem....

You shouldn't have too much problem pushing the piston back as far as the thread in theory - i.e. it should only need rotating to get it on or off the thread.

If the piston won't go back in far enough are you sure that it's not binding on a seal? Have you tried dipping the piston in brake fluid as a lubricant?

Have tried pretty much everything I can think of a a lubricant! It was incredibley tight to get out so think it may have got too hot and has warped slightly. Just enough to not allow the two to engage. Grrr. Looks like a new caliper!

Saw Scott this afternoon and got another caliper. Have to say that bloke is a star an absolutly genuine nice bloke
