just swapped the fron wheel arches over today so they cover none of the front of the wheel and most of the rear. and in those pictures i havent got the engine cover on. hopefully ill take a few more picture when i Drive it to the DVLA for its number plate.

Well done Paul, Ive put you a prize in the post!
Dont get too excited.
Chassis tube corners are radius'd to 2.5mm but cant be seen from pics.
Driving to VIC test is O.K with insurance and number plate. Prosume they would accept donor plate.
Front plate only needs letters the size of bike plates.
I leave mine off. You may get away with saying it fell off and you will miss front number detected speeding tickets. I take mine around in the storage compartment with old double side tape on the back.

Jim.
The very wooly rules around Driving to SVA's And DVLA VIC check are a complete shambles with different people saying different things..
here is my very recent first hand experience..
SVA (Info from the VOSA tester that Carried out my SVA)
its ok to drive to SVA as long as the Car is insured for the road ( make sure your builders policy covers this) he stated that a notice was required on the vehicle stating the Chassis number and a note to say that it was prebooked into VOSA for a SVA test..this is so the car is accountable on the roads and has some form of Identification.
all great only one problem is that if the VOSA inspector fails your car on something major ie. brakes or driveability then he can and will refuse you permission to drive it home ( just like an MOT) fortunately mine was fine.
DVLA VIC check.
firstly i asked the VOSA inspector and his view was that if i did the same with the vehicle identification, it was ok to drive it to the DVLA
but
I drove to the local DVLA office to speak to them personally and i spoke someone in a reasonably senior position ( name and position witheld for the following reason.)
officially the kit car should be transported to the DVLA site as it does not have road tax and therefore shouldnt be on the road. If caught driving without the tax the normal penalties would apply. however once the car has been VIC checked the Tax disc should normally be issued there and then which makes it then road legal although you need to sort out your number plate.
"maybe it just fell off and you were on your way to get the new one officer"
unofficially i was told by the extreemly nice DVLA staff that the VIC check would be carried out in the premises car park and they wouldnt ask me how i got the car there (it could of been towed and the person doing the towing may have gone for a sandwich) As long as the could check what they needed to check they were happy.
however there was a remote chance you might not get it sorted immediately because the VIC forms needed to be signed by a manager at the DVLA office to be completed and if a manager was not available at the time the paperwork would have to be posted out..
sorry for the long winded post but i hope that helps a little with the info you want.

Sorry, you misunderstood - my Tiger is already registered etc..., I was just wondering if the rules had recently changed re. driving to the DVLA - didn't want you to drive there and get caught out. I spoke to the Newcastle DVLA office's female inspector and she was adamant that I MUST trailer it there, which was a bugger as the roads around that office are tiny. In the end the inspection took 5 minutes and covered the exact same stuff that the SVA inspector had looked at, so it was a total waste of time.
On the plus side, the tax disc arrived in the post just 2 days later, so they were very efficient at processing it all.
Is your Rocket road legal now then?
