I can understand the need to limit width and weight to preserve the bridge but they could have come up with something that does not damage every law abiding cars rims as they travel through the restrictions!

Thank god the rim protectors stopped any damage to my car but this is going to upset a lot of 4X4 owners!

Have they made it even narrower?

The restrictions on entry to the bridge remain unaltered at present. It is only the exists that have been reduced thereby stopping larger vehicles passing the obstructions 'on the wrong side'.

I'll be avoiding the bridge completely now.

The bridge restrictions are now in place and the lights have gone. Entry and exit widths are now the same.

Was in Marlow for lunch today, they are bloody tight, just got a BMW 7 through, another clever idea by the local councillors!! Who dreams up this stuff? Wnakers, will be chaos in the summer once the tourists start.

Slows the traffic down hugely too! Causes all sorts of unnecessary trouble.

Just been through them and interesting angle leaving the bridge towards Bisham. Signs that people have hit them already. Won't be long before a serious accident when somebody goes too fast and hits one of them. It would have been so easy to just use the sensible option and get the police to do this novel idea of policing!

Maybe a couple of us should turn up at 0745 on both sides with cars that are too wide and shut the town down, maybe that will sort them out once and for all as yet again the motorist is the one to suffer and everyone talks about it but does nothing.

They seem to be designed just to cause damage, with a huge metal lip jutting out just at the bottom. It really beggers belief thay this is legal, it will cause thousands and thousands of pounds of damage and make a terrible traffic blackspot much worse.

Surely the width of the bridge is its own deterent to speeding drivers or did someone once hit it to cause this to massive overreaction

It is the weight limit which i totally agree with. I was standing in the middle of the bridge years ago when an oil tanker went over and the bridge bowed in the middle! I just think the design is bad and a better solution could have been used.

I cancnertaily see to need to discourage 40 tonners, but most big cars stuggle with the current restriction.

Its interesting they have now tightened both sides, I thought they were just bringing the unrestricted one in line, but seem to have made it worse all round

A contractor at work mentioned he ripped the edge of the rear tyre (Porker 997s) last night on the bridge! Not happy as the tyre is 1 month old!

Buckinghamshire's Transportation Cabinet Member, Val Letheren is responsible

Maybe we should raise the complaints here or here!

Agreed.

This is crazy. I'm moving to Marlow. I don't want to drive my RS4 (wider track) through these new width restrictions. Everyone should send their wheel refurb and tyre bills to the council.
