Think it'll have it's first outing on Thursday, my mate runs a blues jam in a pub in Glasgow, been threatening to go along for ages.
Which pub is that? I'm fairly new to Glasgow so looking to get back into playing with other folk smile

Thanks for the comments

For budget, I have £700 allocated for Guitar stuff. I was hoping I could update my effects too as my Zoom 505 is feeling a bit old hat now. So, £500 for guitar, £200 for effects?

We had a friend depping in our covers band for a while and he's got a dual rect rig. Just bloody awesome. Way past awesome in fact. Plus he could shred like a pro which helped!
Thanks for the info. Do wonder if the price is really worth it though when Engls are half the price and still fine amps.

If someone sends you a left-handed nut by mistake, can't you just fit it the other way round?

Quick update from me.

I bought a new multi effects unit - a Zoom G3X. So far, it's great but you have to spend a little time fiddling with the settings to get a decent tone. I havent played guitar so much in ages! My finger muscles are actually a bit sore.

Regarding the replacement for my old Strat plus, I spent a couple of hours in a guitar shop trying a few different models. I was a little underwhelmed with the budget Jackson and the Ibanez I tried. The necks felt a bit rough in my hand and the strings seemed to grind on the frets when I tried a few bends. The sales guy then brought out a PRS SE Custom 24 and it felt great! Sounded great too.

I'm now trying to desice which spec of PRS to go for. SE, S2 or USA.

Does anyone here have a PRS?

I wouldn't write off a Jackson or Ibanez based only on their budget models. It'd be like dismissing an NSX because you didn't like driving a Jazz. Try a Jackson SL2/DK2 (Soloist/Dinky) Pro or an Ibanez S770 or RG970.
It's a shame that the guitar shops near me seem to stock the lower grade models. They didn't have ANY Ibanez Prestige models for example. Also, the Jackson Soloist seems to be difficult to find. There is only one within 170 miles from me on the ebay listings.

Binned the SSS scratchplate, kept the middle and neck pickups, everything else was binned.

New pots, new caps, new wiring, new 5-way switch, new jack plate, new HSS scratchplate. Re-used said single coils, had a spare alnico humbucker that came out an Epi Goth Explorer that I fitted in the bridge position. Got black knobs and switch tip to go on, but I’m going to whip the plate back off and sort the earth on the humbucker, it’s a bit rough, then I’ll put them on.

Sounds great tbh, plays really well for something kinda cheap
Great little read! Has given inspiration to dig out my first electric guitar and give it a spruce up - I feel a winter project brewing!

picked up this at the weekend, havent played bass for a few years and fancied trying something different.
Seems pretty good for a £600 or so bass.

What's the balance like? The body looks a little 'Thumb' like if a little larger - 5-string thumbs tend to have horrific neck dive (or at least my old bolt-on did). What's the effective scale length on the B?

Afternoon all.

Thought I'd share a few pictures...

So, there we go, hope I haven't bored you too much.
That's a great job, I wasn't bored at all. smile I'm sure he'll appreciate the gesture and your work. I would put the corner caps back on though as it won't take long to rip chunks out of the corners of the material.

Well I found an Ibanez Prestige in the classified at a great price so I got it!

I expect the cubed black pewter colour scheme may not be to everyone's taste, but the guitar feels great to play and is in fantastic condition! Even the hardcase looks brand new.

It's an Ibanez RG2620 which seems to be a 2006 acording to this Wiki http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/RG2620

Some pics;

From the top; Fender Esquire Tom DeLonge thing (all Mahogany with a Seymour Duncan at the bridge), Mid 00's Cort Superstrat type thing (cheap as anything but plays well above it's station, beautiful neck), 1969 re-issue Fender Jap Strat and my newest addition, a PRS SE Custom 24 Floyd which is bloody lovely.

Haha, I have indeed. Primarily though, I have been playing with the Roland Micro Cube RX I picked up on the weekend as I have been quite a while without an amp. It's a tidy little thing, obviously it's never going to blow the windows out but it has some nice little modelling effects built in so it is rather fun to play around with smile

As the saying goes, I'm like a pig in st.

I do like an SG, I have a crack at my little brother's one every now and again but it needs setting up pretty badly. Do you think you will have trouble finding somewhere to out the Vox?

Apologies, I did indeed mean put.

I'm really pleased with the micro-cube, it's great fun.
