Both beautifully faithfully done re-creations rather than kitsets. Built by Classic Car Developments in Invercargill. Both, unfortunately, have gone offshore, the GT40 to Oz, the D-Type to the UK.... One day... sigh.

I'm not normally a fan of green, but that GT40 with the wheels and trim in black is just fabulous.

Since there is a bit of interest here are a couple more pics. The black is actually a dark charcoal grey metallic colour, and the green is an Aston Martin racing colour. Under the bonnet of the D.

See a few late model American muscle cars around Dunners every few days. Black Camaro, multiple Mustang/Shelby GT500's (including a brand new shape red one today) and so on. Few nice exotics from Auckland in this topic: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=107...

Gah! Was delivering mail around the Highcliff area in Dunedin today (i'm a postie ) and saw an awesome Ferrari F355 F1 (?) Convertible drive past with the top down. Needless to say, despite the car going out of view around the corner relatively soon, i could hear it for quite a long time afterwards - especially when it hit the 80km/h zone heading to Larnachs Castle. Licence plate was something like 11111 or IIIII or something? Two middle aged occupants. Almost got a pic of it coming back on my cellphone, but the stupid camera took a photo before i even pointed it at the car.

Arrived in Auckland yesterday at 1:00pm. Since then, and just on Queens St, I've seen a 612 Scaglietti, an Aston Rapide, a very tasty Maserati GT and a Porsche Panamera with a very wicked exhaust system. Loving Auckland! BF

A red 612? One of the partners at an accounting or law firm down by the waterfront has one
There are a lot of tasty cars floating around, especially those owned by young chinese (usually funded by the parents) - Maser MC Stradale, 1M, M3 with very loud exhaust, etc. Weirdest sight was one morning as i walked to the office, would have been 7:15 on a friday, there was a ferrari 360 down on fort lane outside a nightclub. It looked like it was in poor condition with a big scrape on the side. Always wondered what was the situation there. The guys standing around it looked awfully dodgy.

Always used to be a really nice drive out around the peninsula - out along Highcliff and back around Portobello Road. Full of buses and lycra bandits the last couple of times I tried it though.
