I've had my Macbook for over a year and it has performed flawlessly. I now have a small problem which I hope some of the Mac people on here can help with.

In Preferences I have my MB set to turn off the screen after 15 mins and then go to sleep after 30 mins of no use, problem is it will not go to sleep any more. I have reset the timings but it still will not go to sleep, any ideas? I can manually put it to sleep and all other functions appear to work okay.

Sounds like you might have some process in the background blocking the sleep function. Have a look at the (can't remember what it's called) equivalent of task manager and post up here. Some of the contributors might be able to suggest which one it is.
