Right, after suggesting a Wiki listing all the Microbreweries we know about could be a good basis for some summer drives, a couple of people liked the idea. I'm hoping this post works!

I guess the easist way is to use the same sort of format as the Good Grub guide and group under county, then list the name, locaton and any notes.

The Beer Engine, Newton St. Cyres, A377 North from exeter. http://www.thebeerengine.co.uk/

Haven't been for a while, but seem to remember the beer was really rather good. For the Designated Driver, try A377 north to Down St. Mary, left onto the B3220, right at Winkleigh and take the A3124 to Torrington.drivingbiggrin

Shropshire

Ludlow Brewing Company ( www.theludlowbrewingcompany.co.uk )

105 Corve Street, Ludlow, Shropshire, SY8 1DJ (01584) 873291

Must be one of Englands newest brewies in the historic town of Ludlow, only started brewing in 2006. I think they currently have three beers, with 'Gold' being the pick of the bunch. Has the apperance of the lager, but the taste of a great bitter, recomended.

Hobsons Hobsons Brewery http://www.hobsonsbrewery.co.uk/articles.php?categ...

Located in Cleobury Mortimer, and brewer of the 2007 Champion Beer Of Britain (Hobsons Mild).

Wood's based in sleepy Wistanstow near Craven Arms. One of the first micro-breweries in Salop. http://www.woodbrewery.co.uk/beers.htm

The Plough in Wistanstow is the brewery tap, and the staple beers have a very "jam-like", malty taste to them, and a faint smokey aroma. It's not brewed often, but Wood's "Wonderful" is a great example of the overall style.
