This might be a really stupid question....

But if I was to order new wheels for my griff, and I ordered 16" for front and 17" for back, would I need to get any extra modifications to my griff, bearing in mind that the wheels are four stud wheels and its a 1992 4.3

Would affect the handling etc.

BTW. I know about the TVR factory mod. but I don't like the Spiders!!

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you have the correct offset, stuf PCD and the rolling circumference of the tyre isn't changed, you should be fine. Search the archives for more details.

Hello K67 KRB I had 17" alloys fitted all round and found no problems with the handling but boy the Griff looks cool.

Do you have to recalibrate the dials to take into account the new wheel circumference? Would this not give inaccurate readings for speed and mileage etc? Or am I being stupid?

Yes and no. There is a tyre size calculator on my website that will give the %age error. The tables are also printed in the bible 2 so that you can choose the new wheels/tyres to have the same circumference and not need to calibrate the speedo.

On the basis that you will run a lower profile tyre the overall rolling circumference should be the same. Generally for each 1" increase in rim size decrease the profile by 5 i.e. a 15" 50 profile equates to a 16" 45 profile, of course tyre width also affects this slightly. Steve Heath has a good tyre size calculator on his web site http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/shpub/ he also sells books about TVRs there Rich...
