Hi,

I have a citroen berlingo diesel for my work. About a month ago it developed a judder. It doesnt matter which gear you are in but when you take your foot off the throttle for a few seconds and then push it back down it judders.

Been to a garage had filters changed but it made no difference. I was then advised to go to Halfords and buy a bottle of engine cleaner you put in a full tank of diesel. Did this and it worked a treat. No juddering at all for that tank of diesel.

Filled up again, done about 100 miles and all fine still, until today when it seems to be happening worse than ever.

I am fed up keep taking it to the garage paying them and they cannot find the problem. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Engine cleaner that fixes engine mounts? Where did you get it from, we want some! wink

OP Have you tried checking injectors are ok? Also injector pump or diesel pump? Sounds like you have dirt etc in the system somewhere if engine cleaner temporarily solved it.

Injectors clogged & or injector seat seals leaking. Try spraying some brake cleaner around the injector seats when its running soon shows any leaks up wink

These are very prone to air leaks from the diesel primer .Also for injectors.

If it may just be a case of dirt in the system, which I suspect as it all originally began after I filled up, is it worthwhile just leaving it and hoping the problem cures itself?

Or has it has been there for about 6 weeks is this unlikely to happen?

Re engine cleaner. I know you are only supposed to use this every 4,000 miles or so. Is it worthwhile just trying one of those again or will that cause damage?

Well I'm sure if you used enough it could gum them up enough to take out any play...

Sorry, I hadn't read the post properly.

I was going on the logic that juddering when pressing the throttle sharply normally suggests worn engines mounts.

It could be water on the fuel ,this is very common, it might be worth draining the tank .Another thing that makes me think this ,is that some diesel injector cleaners emulsify water in the tank for the fuel filter to collect.
