Help - Monitor shafted, what to get?
Discussion
My monitor has died - its a cheapo 4:3 19" TFT that came packaged with a Mesh PC.
It think that one of the 'channels' has had it, (Red?) as it is now only working in a funky green/blue tinge? Its not the cable, (DVI, I've tried the VGA and its the same)and its not my display settings. (I've had to adjust all the gamma/channels etc to get something readable, and its very bright/bizzare!)
I presume its not fixable?
So, what do I replace it with?
I use the PC for CAD, photo editing, surfing and watching TV/films. (I dont have seperate TV)
Any ideas where to get a really, really cheap monitor from? Needs to be = or > 19", as thats what I have now.
Do I go widescreen, or is this a bad idea for photo work?
Are 2nd hand ones on Ebay likely to be similarly shafted?
The issue is, I'm on a really, really tight budget until Easter, and I use my PC a LOT, I'm currently in the middle of lots of Uni projects, particularly CAD, where colour is an issue.
Theres someone selling 22" Dell CRTs on Ebay for £60. I don't really have the desk space at all (tiny student room) but if needs must, would these be a good buy? Don't really see CRT's any more.
Finally, if anyones got anything going spare that may be of use please PM me.

Assuming it is the monitor, I can heartily recommend the 22" LG widescreen unit, it came highly recommended to me and I'm extremely pleased with it. Cheap as well, which is an added bonus. Working with widescreen is by choice really - I prefer it, as I can set all the tool pallets up nicely to one side and still have the image large in the screen. From my old 19" it's a fair leap!

22 inch CRT is a MONSTER of a thing. Huge CRT tube.
I thought it might be, its ages since I've seen a CRT!Had it airshipped to a friends house when I was coming out here without an address, went and collected it in the rental car a couple of weeks later, along with several other boxes, so had the monitor on the passenger seat. The 'fasten seat belt' alert kept on going off as the weight sensor thought there was some fat git sat there. Too big to get the belt round, either.
You definitely don't want to move it often. Due to the design , the Dell takes up a lot less room on the dsk in practical terms.
