Is anyone aware of any dvd surround sound systems which instead of putting out 'surround sound' have the ability to send out the same stereo sound to all of the satellite speakers?

The system is for my parents who are both struggling to hear the television unless they turn the volume right up and therefore disturb the neighbours.

thanks smile

Wouldn't it be better (and cheaper) to buy an amplifier with two sets of stereo outputs?

Lots of reasonable budget hi-fi amplifiers have this option, it's certainly there on my Yamaha DSP-A5. (Although to confuse things, that actually is a home cinema amp smile )

Yes, sorry, just come back to edit the post. They're also looking for a dvd player so it would be good to have an all in one system instead of a separate amplifier and dvd player.

A lot of home cinema systems you can set up for stereo regardless how many speakers are connected.

I would say that is the easiest option. The other option would be getting a system with a stereo out - these are often on the back of TVs. Plug this with a £2 lead into a cheapy hi-fi amp, and speaker cable to a set of speakers behind their head.

Second option could probably be done for £100 with ebay, although not as nice as a new setup.

most surround receivers have a five channel stereo mode.
