ST170 management light keeps coming on
Discussion
Hello people,
my dad's got a 2002 ST170 and despite having 3 or 4 lambda sensors, 2 cats and more diagnostic checks and resets than you'd believe, the engine management light keeps coming back on. He takes it in, they can't get a fault code off it, turn the light off and it's ok for a few day then, for no aparant reason, the light will come on again. My mum reckons it came on last time when she went over a bump, which might indicate a loose connection, although it could have been coincidence or she just imagined it...
Has anybody got any ideas of what it could be, and how to fix it?
thanks
Paul

If its an early 2002 st170 then there were some issues with the ECU software, this was sorted late 03 and certainly for the 04/54 onwards cars but this upgrade should be available for the early models through ford dealers and I believe when the new sofware was first available that it was free. Not sure if this will help. Best to try an st forum or http://www.fordst170.co.uk/ as this has all know issues and fixes listed.
