Hello all, I want to start my own little project car. i have decided on a 3dr xr4 and a rover v8 as i can get both of these with ease through a couple of contacts.
I was just wondering if anybody out there has advise as to what kind of job it is and what parts i will require. i have found magazine articles and 1 web site but both are very brief dscriptions and not a list.
Any help or pointers will be gratefully recieved!!!!!!!!

would it not be easier to go the v6 cosworth route to get very similar power?

Aparently the conversion is not that bad to do, i just want to find somebody that has already done it to point me in the right direction as to what parts to use and where to get them. what gearbox ratios, diff, propshaft, engine mounts, carb or inj, supercharger or twin turbocharger and so on. my aim is to be able to stand up against 350bhp evos and scoobies but old school style power and charm. i know off the line not much chance but the sierra will be much more fun and a fantastic noise!!!

Contact Steve Law at Speedshack on 01895 449066, he likes putting Rovers in Fords and has also got a small parts emporium to help you on your way.

Also, Wisbeach Engineering helped Mick Mcgough build his Rover powered Sierra.

It's not the same but I'm doing a similar conversion on a capri. I think you want to use the T5 gearbox from the sierra cossie (then you shouldn't have to mod the driveshaft) and mate it to the rover v8 through a modified borg warner type 35 gearbox bellhousing (make your own or pay JE developments £325 - below). I'm on a bit of a budget so I'm making my own but you'll need a TIG welder and some ally welding skills.

I've got a Wade RO34 supercharger for mine as well but that's mainly because I love the whine and it sounds epic (also I got it cheap). I don't know much about turbos on V8s but supercharging seems to suit the lazy power character of a v8 to me.

This is all just my very amateur opinion of course.

You could also try one of the TVR breakers: most of the Griffiths and Chimaeras came out of the factory with a T5 gearbox (except early cars).
