Hi all, I usually post on the BMW pages but need some help with a potential 2nd car. I need a car for the wife and 2 kids to use daily and have sort of settled on a C-Max. I would like a S-Max but she says they are just too big. Anyway I wuite like the C-Max and have no idea of best engine/model (it will be a used car and I have approx £1k to spend, nearer £10k would be better)

Anyway Im in your hands!

2.0 TDCi Zetec is the best all rounder , the engines a peach loads of midrange grunt , nice gearbox and a good drive ,
few bits inside can rattle worst being the cubby on the top of the dash , but its an easy fix , normal driving i was getting 45mpg out of it ,
if you dont mind a petrol there are some facelifts arount the 10k mark ,

Hi Dennis, thanks for the advice, that looks like a good deal didnt realise they were that cheap for a Zetec. One quick question is it right that that only made a ghia model in the 07 spec and the 07.5 is a titanium?

Cheers

I think ford are trying to ditch the ghia as its olde worlde , titanium is more of a hitec posh ... they have ditched ghia spec on the uk focus as well , and i reckon they will phase it out on the other models as well over time .

the 2.0 is a good car but try the 1.6 first if that gives you what you want then there is no point trying to go bigger, after all it is for carrying your kids around. We have an 04 zetec 1.6 TDCi, with cruise and it is not bad, gets to where you want and an ok speed and comfortable. It does what it says on the tin!!
