Hi guys....

I looking to purchase a 2006 Mondeo ST TDCI estate. Now the estate part here is the problem. I wish to lower the car but I am getting very conflicting stories from various forums, owners & suppliers.

The estate has self leveling suspension at the rear. One owner said he fitted eibach springs and shocks all round which removed the self leveling and that worked, but his was a Zetec-S, but still had self leveling suspension. Yet FordPartsUK say no kits are available for ST models.

I can't believe there is no way of lowering an ST220 or ST TDCI... doesn't sound right. But i need a definite answer before going any further.. the standard car floats too much.

Not sure, if they dont already, someone will have a kit out sometime.

I would ask though, why do you want to do it?

As standard it is a fair bit firmer than the regular mondeos, but still brilliantly damped. It is a fine handling car, how stiff are you wanting to go?

Hi,

It's not so much the firmness, but the ride height, the ST site quite high and it really spoils the looks. I've heard eibach springs don't change the quality of ride that much.

As for handling.. I guess it's what you are used to, unfortunately I "down grading" due to personal circumstances. I am just looking forward to the space and economy.

Try another company other than Ford first, reason I say this recently wanted to get some lowering springs for a Fiesta ST Ford said they dont do them for the ST, so ordered the springs from another company, package turns up with the Ford Part number on it, queried it and was told it was alright to still use them on a ST even though Ford wouldnt supply them to me. So sent them back went back to Ford and got the springs from them saying it was for a Fiesta Zetec S for much less due to employee discount.
