New Website/Forum, not car related.

I was hoping someone maybe able to help me out. I am trying to start a new forum using phpbb, but I can't figure out how to get the forum board thing upload on to my website.
Would anybody be able to help me out with this? I'll happily pay a small fee as it was driving me nuts last weekend. If anyone has experience of adding phpbb to a website please let me know.

The easiest option will just be to talk to your internet web host, they should be able to assist you with the install.

It's not that hard to do once you have the files uploaded, just go to the intstall.php.

Its pretty easy, upload the files to your webspace using FTP then go to the setup page in your browser. You will need to know your database settings.

Some webhosts, like mine have a one click install option of phpbb where you just complete a form and it will install it all for you.

With respect guys, its easy for us to bang on about FTP, database names and passwords, install.php etc. But if the OP or anybody else needing help with this does not know much about this sort of thing, they will think WTF.

If they are a complete novice, do you think (although it may be easy when you know how) they will be able to set up a MYSQL database, open a FTP account and upload, go into the file manager, into /public_html find the PHPBB directory and delete the installation file? after installation. NOPE.

Well Jamie, while your company and our little tin pot reselling effort provide that support and customer service, some of the other providers customer service / support is non exsistant. It should just be a simple case of pressing install (for the PHP BB Forum) the database etc should be automatically created, the rest is pretty easy even for a novice.

I have been in touch with the OP over the weekend and hope to have his forum up and running as soon as he gets back to me. Always glad to help out where possible, as I know you are too.

Aye, as you say it should... which is why it grates to see companies getting away with providing no support due to the generosity of others totally unrelated to the process..

I'll happily help, but only once I've pointed out that this shouldnt've been an issue in the first, and they should consider the benefit of support the next time they come to renew... I don't want to enable those who choose a host based on how many cents cheaper than the last guy they are... I want them to suffer so much they realise they need to pay for quality

But .. for PH'rs I suppose the rules can be bent..
