Just a reminder to the forum that the British F3/GT Media Day is at Silverstone on Thursday with F3 testing from 9-12 and GT testing from 2-5 with two hours of media activity in between.

Anyone is welcome to come along and spectate, the security people at Silverstone have been informed this is a public day.

Thanks Jeff, thats great news. Nik and I were already going to be attending, but I've passed the news on to others we know. I'm really looking forward to thishaving missed out by a gnats whisher last year and nearly missing out this year.

Hello, pop along and say hello we are in the last garage (12F?) with the Maserati. As it is currently orange we didn't want to upset anyone's sensibilities (though Ginetta seem to like it as a colour?)

Hi there,

Attended the Media Day for the 2008 British GT series today.

This year there are two classes GT3 and the new GT4.
GT3 will consist of Ferrari F430's, Lamborghini Gallardos and a few others, with GT4 teams running cars like Aston Martin N24's and Ginetta G50's.

Team Modena will be running their Gallardo again this year and after a good development season in 2007 their car should be running near the front in 2008.

A new team for 2008 is CRS Scuderia, they will run 2 Ferrari F430 GT3's and many of the team members are ex Scuderia Ecosse that won the title in 2006.

Adam Wilcox returns for 2008 in his F430 that ran well in 2007

A new entry for the GT4 series is Moore Racing and their Maserati. This car looked great and it will be great to see this taking on the Aston Martin N24's

A few more random shots of some of the other cars

Hope you like the pictures.

Regards

Tim

Nice pictures. For the record next time it is out on track the Maserati won't be orange!

How does the Ginetta qualify for GT4 when there isn't a road going example? I thought GT4 was for lightly modified road cars, not one make series race cars?

I don't have an issue with it, far from it, I'd like to see more variety. I'm just curious about SRO's logic.

MadigitalMedia had a great day at Silverstone. Although I don't even pretend to be of the calibre of some of the photographers here like Luca, I hope you'l like some of my humble snaps. Most of these I managed to take in the 4 hours I was in the pitlane and on the pitwall before some Silverstone guy came up and informed me that Wheelchairs weren't allowed in the pitlane or on the pitwall. I understand the health and saftey aspect of it and won;t argue, but in all the times I've been into Silverstone and been in the pitlane, this is the first time I've ever been told. Oh well! lol

Talking of Luca, lets kick of with one of him.

I was chatting to Richard Moore about the Maserati with Paul Fenton leaning on the other side of the table. Richard was saying 'There are only two things wrong with it...' when Paul piped up in a despondant voice 'It's ORANGE!' Classic smile

Went along for the media day as well, Just drove up to the guy on the gate and said I was here for the British GT's and he waved me though!smile Drove right into the Paddock and then ventured around the circuit and pits.

No pictures to the standard of those above however, just the one of the car that made my day!

Great afternoon free to wonder most places and drive round the ring road of the circuit to view from different areas. Thats when I discovered the F1's rotate

Click for F1's testing at Silverstone

Nice little warm up to the FIA GT in April and also Le Mans bounce

I can't speak about the Ford, but the Maserati won't be there for Oulton Park but should be showing up soon. There are one or two kinks to sort out. About the ford, I couldn't say for certain, but I doubt it. It was pitted at the far end of the pits from the GT's and I don't think it actually had anything to do with the GT's at all. I stand to be corrected though.

AHA! So THATS who you are. [remembers what her 'proper' job is and makes a mental note to be very, very nice to Racylady at all times]

I'll probably see you at Oulton Park then, and cheer you on!

Shame you didn't take the shot from the other side, it looks a little cleaner than when it went out on track. Poor thing was never gonna get far, a wheel fell orf!

Hi there,

Just missed the wheel coming off the Aston Martin as I was walking through the gate towards the corner, but managed to get a few of it stranded on the track.

I asked the driver if they were both ok, and he said 'yes, although I knew something was wrong when the wheel overtook the car'
