...however, as I got closer I saw a sign saying "Baby On Board" so I decided against it.

Very very useful signs those, the amount of times they've dissuaded me from smashing into the back cars are simply too numerous to count. I think they should be compulsory and be on all cars.

I once got overtaken on the M6 toll by a woman in a CRV on her phone, doing about 100mph with her kids in the back. She also had a sign with something like 'Back Off! Kids on board!' written on it hanging in the back window.

I suspect the least of those childrens' problems were the cars behind.

This has come up many times on here, I think the point of most of these is not "I have a baby on board so don't crash into me" but "I have a baby on board and I might get distracted if it cries out (or two kids arguing) so don't get too close in case I suddenly brake or forget to brake or don't indicate or swerve unexpectedly". So give them some room or overtake them, you don't want to get caught up in someone else's accident.

Ah, but at least she was using the Baby On Board sign in the manner in which it is intended.

They are supposed to be to alert emergency services that a small person may be inside a wreck, so in some perverse way she was being a responsible parent.

Sounds very sensible. I'm sure the double sided sticky tape which attaches it to the rear windscreen will remain unaffected in a crash (rather like the black box of an aircraft). Equally, I'm sure that without this aid the emergency services won't need to actually look for a small body or car seat. Equally, I'm sure the parents take the sign off after they've dropped off their little bundle of fun at the nursery.

Too right, Bruce...

I spotted one, just in time...

So I crashed into the car to its left....

Close run thing that. I killed the other driver but she was an old dear and I'm sure she wasn't safe on the roads...

Good result all round, I think..

Maybe there's a market for a new sign?

No kids - take your best shot!

Every one knows that the real reason people have "kids on board" stickers on a car is because you cant get ones saying
"my sperm is good st"

Sounds like excellent driving and good observation to me. Especially as the "Baby on Board" signs can be quite small so it's important to get very close to the car in front in order to be able to read it.

I think my favourite variation was an exact clone of the most common 'Baby on Board' in terms of styling, but bearing the logo; "This is a pointless yellow sign" instead.

Ahhh and there was me thinking that the woman in a Mercedes ML (with 2 kids in the back) who tried to drive into the side of me on the A540 was just ignoring the lane controls (bleedin great big arrows on the tarmac)......wonder what the excuse for then following me 2 feet behind with her hand on the horn was biggrin .......soon stoped when I stopped, got out of the car and went to have a quiet word wink

Good on ya - although the fact it was a woman in a German SUV probably should have been enough warning to stay well clear.

These are the same muppets who wank about in SUVs because 'they're safer'. Because paying attention to the fking road is too much to ask of little miss wannabe WAG

These signs exist because when people have a baby they tend to go slightly insane, and want the entire world to know that they have a baby. The signs are NOTHING to do with 'alerting' emergency services to anything. That's the simple truth.
