Auto Electrician in Aberdeenshire needed... or advice

The new alternator in my 88 Camaro isn't working. I've checked everything and don't know what to do next. Electrics are a bit of a mystery to me. Everything else works fine, just the battery drains away whilst driving.
I've tried a garage, where this problem amongst others started, and am at my wit's end now.
Any advice would be a great help.

Why did you need to fit a new alternator? Did you have the same problem previously? Have you fitted additional electrical stuff to it? Has anyone checked that the alternator is actually charging?
