What should this be?

Mine's 600 - 650 rpm at the moment.

IIRC 700 - 750 is the norm?

Is it easy to adjust?

Ta.

I'm at 750ish cold and 900 hot. Yes it is easy to adjust.

Presumably an idle screw?

Any photos or hints as to where it is?

I'll have a fiddle at the weekend.

Just be careful, one is the idle adjustment the other is the for balancing the throttle pots - get it wrong and you`ll pay for a trip on a flatbed to get the throttles set up again... eek

Hmmm, glad this has been dragged up.
Just out of interest then.... which one's which???
My idle is quite low. It's seems to run just above stalling until it gets a bit of warmth. Usually I have to use a little bit of pressure on the accelerator until everything settles down. I think if I could get the idle up a little bit, it would be much better??? If this is something I can do myself, then I'll give it a go as long as I can rule out the flatbed???

If you are on ur own, with engine running push them in turn with your finger, the one that revs the engine is the one to adjust. if you can get somebody to help, its the one that moves when the accelerator is pushed.

My advice is to leave it alone. It needs a tweak on a laptop by someone who knows what they are doing. These cars will not go between services intervals without - period.

It will cost about an hours labour and the car will run better as everything will be rebalanced. Mess about with idle screws and you'll put the engine further out of tune than it already is..

What revs have you got when hot Jamie?
If you fancy a run to Stubbington i will tweak it for you, i have done it a few times with my old Tuscan and now the Tamora with no problems what so ever.

The idle speed is not adjustable from a laptop, but you are right, the car will run better if correctly setup, not just the idle setting.

I was wondering that too, did seem a little random, but looks like your hicup was inspired based on the comments smile Feel free to delve (is that a word?) further to see what else is lurking in previous posts....

Ideally you need to connect a laptop to reset things after adjusting the idle screw. The software is freely available to download, no link to hand at the mo' but I'll find it if you want -pm me. You just need to acquire a lead to plug your laptop in.
I 'adjust' mine between annual services.
ps It takes about 10 minutes to tweak on the laptop- A damn sight longer to get the car up to operating temps....biggrin

Interestingly that's all I've had to fiddle with (car wise that is) in the last 10 months and 6000+ miles.

The car came back from its last service nicely set up but with a slightly low idle setting.

It was a bit far to take it back so I adjusted it.

Only needed a new speedo sensor this year and that was covered by the warranty.

Wish the silly buggers hadn't gone bust - I'd be buying my next 1 year old Tiv this summer weeping.

Would have been car number 5 and 22 years of magical driving.

Feck.
