Guess joe public will stick to sitting in 2nd rate grandstand, standing on overcrowded banks, not being able to see tha action, and going home stinking of overpriced poor quality fast food.

Bring back Brands! Kick out Moseley and the poison dwarf, and get real about what makes good race tracks. If they can run races at Monaco, then why ignore Brands. Ideal Specky arena for the event!

Looks very impressive...but something is needed the other side of the track. Whilst I'm a big fan of Brands, I don't want to see it dug up - at least Silverstone has the space and now the infrastructure

I'm not sure it's fair to criticise this plan without knowing more about it (I assume you know nothing more than is written in the BBC article).

What the BBC article doesn't tell you is, that new building and pit and paddock complex is going to be put between Club and Abbey. So the current pits and pit-lane... will that be for the other series to use? Or will they demolish it?

Bit more info here. Some realism is required. If one wants to enjoy a British GP, first you have to ensure you retain one. If this is what the BRDC needs to do to achieve that then so be it. Personaly I think this is a good way forward.

Agree with this.

The National is boring to drive no matter how fast you are going Have never done the full circuit but as good as some of the fast corners may be the huge run-offs rather detract from the challenge for me, as there is no penalty for getting it wrong. Although I'm sure in an F1 car it is still exciting.

They are not in the photo because its purpose is to illustrate the new pit and paddock complex.

The other image that Silverstone has released has a little glimpse of what the grandstands could look like.

Think Hockenheim stadium section, and your getting close I believe.



Silverstone lacks a bit of atmosphere, but a stadium effect grandstand area would help achieve one i feel.

Interesting that the BRDC feel that Ferrari will win the previous years championship but that a Mclaren will be leading a Ferrari in the race.

Isn't it usually the other way around - championship winners in first garages? Therefore they think Ferrari and Mclaren will finish last in the constructors

The National is boring to drive no matter how fast you are going

The National is quite a challenge in an 800BHP car, especially the section from the pit straight to the exit of Beckets, braking into the complex is fun too as you are tanking on somewhat by then.

800bhp round the National sounds good - personally i'd like to see the Nascar Nationwide Series (i.e. second division) run there, given how awesome stock cars are on normal tracks. Imgaine 43 of these:

Brands will never host a GP again in my opinion, not unless F1 regs are dramatically changed. The track is very short, and there is not enough run-off areas/safety fencing on the GP loop. F1 cars are simply to fast, and put on a narrow circuit like brands, would give a boring show.

The place has a history and unique character, not to mention it being an absolute classic circuit to drive. It should be preserved, not ruined for the sake of one race a year.

JP has shown that for a circuit to flourish and be successful you do not need F1 in town. He has brought DTM, A1GP, WTCC plus many other great series to the circuit since taking over.

Anyway, back to topic...
