p38 glove box cable help

had some trouble with my glove box for sometime now and cant figure out how to get the cable off of the lock end. i took the car to a garage as it wasnt shutting properly and they said the release cable was buggered. got a new one and dropped the glove box out etc but i cant see how the wood veneer trim comes off so i can release it front the back of the glovebox lock barrel. any help would be great

The black plastic surround around the lock (about the size of a matchbox) should 'pop' off exposing two phillips-head screws. If you undo these, the lock assembley will then be able to drop out.

(The veneer is just held on by four or five push fit studs. Ease it off slowly!)

ok mate thanks for that, do i need to take the veneer off if that lock will drop out?
