Had the great pleasure of Fordy oop norf away from the tropical sunny south the other week .. he's been a busy little bee cutting and welding some old instruments from the disbanded local youth orchestra. He's never one to blow his own trumpet so I thought i'd show you all what you can do with a bit of free thinking and a cornet or several.

There's actually method to his madness, his new exhaust system links the cylinders which are an engine rotation apart so making a proper 8-4-2-1 manifold set-up for RV8 TVRs. Work of art I say, and 30lb.ft extra over stock! Blinding, in every way smile

here's a pic :

They are superbly built when you see the close up shots.

Was the only other mod to move the water pump feed to rad or is it still in the same place Clive ?

Top job.

What dia. are those? Is there tuned length amongst that lot? What does it collect into? How much? What does it sound like?

Sound bite please!

I insisted the lengths were tuned - I even lent Clive a book about it wink In all seriousness, both the lengths and pipe diameters are tuned as far as possible.

It sounds fantastic - much smoother sound than a typical Griff.

Not yet on the website, I see.

Is that a manifold only and it fits to a Y piece?

Or does it replace the Y piece as well?

If it fits to the Y piece, is the torque gain over a standard or V8E Y piece?

If it replaces the Y piece then how easy is swap over at MOT time if a cat is needed to pass? Or can it house a cat?

Are there any fitting restrictions, such as if A/C PAS and Supercharger are fitted?

Does it restrict access for working on other parts?

I struggle to follow your attempts at humour at the best of times confused

???
I wasn't trying to being humorous and I don't get why you think I was.

I went to Clive's site hoping to see more pictures, prices, ect.

I already have Clive's Y piece and would recommend it. Good sound and performance.

I was hoping that it wasn't made obsolete by this new system.

UF

As described this is a 8 in to 4 in to 2 into 1 system.

There is no Y piece, and you would not need one. The point being that each exhaust pulse is matched to it's crank opposed cylinder. The 8 into 4 are 4 Y pieces you can see in the picture. The 4 into 2 is another Y piece of sorts and the 2 into 1 is you normal exhaust.

Our current systems are 8 into 1.

There isn't anywhere to put a cat I imagine unless you pt one into the main exahust and you wouldn't want too . .

You have an Emerald, did you get the to do an MOT map for you ?

Thanks Mark

I didn't get an MOT map, but I am booked to get some more mapping done including getting one.

I really don't want a cat, just the facilities to fit one, if the government ever insisted that there's one fitted, not just meeting measurements.

Do these make it a lot louder? I went up from 105 to 110db with the Y piece and want quality sounds not louder. The Y piece sounds so good that it's hard to imagine how it could be improved.

Kinell!

If looks are anything to go by - awesome.
I'd like to hear it too. ears

It's all well and good increasing the torque and all that but it's looks and sound that's really important. wink

There is room to fit a sports cat. smile It is not, however in the usual location.

There are also bosses for wideband and narrowband lambda sensors (before anyone asks that question wink )

Its a fantastic work of engineering skill bow

Having been fortunate enough to witness its first tests at TCS Dino i can confirm that it makes the car far more throttle responsive yes reminds me of a 360 Frez when you hit the gas hard.

Its sound is like nothing i have ever heard from a RV8

What Clive has achieved is pretty spectacular you only realise this when you start to look deeply into the technical aspects of his creation the beginnings of which Johno has pointed out above.

So far so good Clive i look forward to the second stage of testing like an excited child.smile
