Hi there,

Also on the timetable yesterday at Oulton Park was the qualifying for the first round of the new Ginetta G50 Cup which will be held on Easter Monday.

There were six G50's racing in the GT4 class of British GT, and loads more entered in the G50 Cup, here are a few pics: -

Can't wait to see the G50 released as a road car, think it will be a cracking car.

Monday also sees the first round of the 2008 VW Racing series, a really diverse field from Beetles to Diesel Caddy Vans. Great fun to watch and made a change from the high powered GT cars. Here are some pics: -

Hope you like the pics.

regards

Tim

I think I'll have to take a respirator with me for Monday, as some of those oil-burners were making my eyes water!

What licence do you need for the G50 cup? I'm guessing National A.

Someone who was supposed to be racing didn't know that!

hehe I still have the fuel filler flap from that océ caddy van as a souvenir in my marshalling kitbag. He very kindly left it behind after parking the van at speed into the pitwall at Combe a couple of years back. Good to see it back in action.

You wouldn't have happened to have removed the particulate filter as well would you - I think a respirator is going to become a required addition to the standard marshalling kit if we get many more diesels entering (especially with side-exit exhausts).

I did find it funny that I wasn't sure whether it was the blizzard or the soot that was causing more visibility concerns - but then I saw three oil-burners in a tight pack and thought they deserve each other.

The diesel VW's were certainly belching out some very black smoke, but sounded awesome. I'd love a sound like that out of my diesel! The second VW race was red flagged after a polo was in a tussle with a beetle coming out of Knickerbrook which left it in a dangerous position on the edge of the gravel trap at Knickerbrook out.
The G50 Ginettas are a lovely looking car, remeniscent of a TVR Tuscan from the front.
They should sell really well when they go on sale.
