Dear God, I hope not. Even as a Puma replacement, this would need A LOT of work. Other than the dummy air vents, this has NOTHING in common with the best car Ford of Europe ever made. Call it what you like, Ford, but DON'T call it a Capri.
I get the impression this is a Photoshopped RS Focus, which gives me hope. But......

If you want a proper new Capri, take a new Mustang and put a muscle-bound re-creation of the original body style on it.

Honestly, how hard can it be to make a rwd coupe with a big engine in the front?
Not hard at all. All the difficult work is done. All they need to do now is make it look like a Capri.
Eeek, that's nasty.
Should be something more like this (but less cartoony) I think:

- Like a Capri version of the latest Mustang.
If it's just gonna be a weird looking FWD coupe then call it a Puma.
I'm sure it's just the mags inventing stories again though. Sure they were full of "Ford's New Capri" headlines when the Probe and the Cougar came out.

why should it be in keeping with the original?
in what way did the last of the escorts resemble the first?
The Escort was in continual production, so each was an evolution of the previous version. The Capri didn't change much in it's 3 versions, so say the word Capri and it conjurs up a specific look and drivetrain layout.in what way did the last of the escorts resemble the first?
I've no problem with Ford producing a new FWD small coupe. But give it a new name. The orange one above has more in common with the Puma.
