Dear God, I hope not. Even as a Puma replacement, this would need A LOT of work. Other than the dummy air vents, this has NOTHING in common with the best car Ford of Europe ever made. Call it what you like, Ford, but DON'T call it a Capri.

I get the impression this is a Photoshopped RS Focus, which gives me hope. But......

If you want a proper new Capri, take a new Mustang and put a muscle-bound re-creation of the original body style on it.

Big side vents. Is the new capri going to be mid-engined then? Looks terrible imo. Where's the long low bonnet gone?

The design language looks to be from before the iosis(?) days (i.e. new Mondeo, 2009 Fiesta, Edge). Unless this is the the first signs of the unified world language they're supposed to be working on...

Here's a "sort of" new version of that. Just needs to lose the Speedfreaks cartoon look a little.

At least that in keeping with the original.

Looks like those 'krazy art' pictures you get. Honestly, how hard can it be to make a rwd coupe with a big engine in the front?

Not hard at all. All the difficult work is done. All they need to do now is make it look like a Capri.

Making one with the steering wheel on the other side appears to be beyond them however

Eeek, that's nasty.

Should be something more like this (but less cartoony) I think:

- Like a Capri version of the latest Mustang.

If it's just gonna be a weird looking FWD coupe then call it a Puma.

I'm sure it's just the mags inventing stories again though. Sure they were full of "Ford's New Capri" headlines when the Probe and the Cougar came out.

The Escort was in continual production, so each was an evolution of the previous version. The Capri didn't change much in it's 3 versions, so say the word Capri and it conjurs up a specific look and drivetrain layout.

I've no problem with Ford producing a new FWD small coupe. But give it a new name. The orange one above has more in common with the Puma.

True, but LHD isn't as bad as you may think.
