The Group C Cars will be running again at Le Mans in the morning before the start of the 24Hrs. Could make the 24 hr race a bit of an anti climax!

I'm ridiculously excited about seeing these monsters. As a relatively young guy I missed the oppertunity to see these cars race in their day, but I had models of them and posters. I can't wait to finally see them in action!! bounce

I wonder if someone will bring a Mazda to race? People still talk about the noise they made in a reverential tone...

At a track day at Donington 4-5yrs ago we were privileged to be on track the same time as 2 of the Jaguar Group C cars . . . One running in Silk Cut colours.

They are awesome cars, and I've never seen anything else at Donington that looked too big for the circuit, regardless that they raced there, they have an other worldly character to them that must have made them at home at Le Mans . . .

Awesome noise, great looking and I will be there face against fence on Thursday night and Saturday morning . . . .

Mr Bridger, with respect, you are not playing fair or helping the lust for one of these fine beasts.

I'm not sure if there will be one, but they do sound amazing (saw one at Goodwood). Oh and a guy I work with designed the control systems for the race car and was a member of the pit crew for the 3rd placed car. He drove the car once and said it was the scariest thing he had ever been in. Git!!! wink

More info on group C cars taking part will probably be found here

As I said on another website:

"Can they swap them over and run the LMP's for an hour in the morning and then let the real cars race the main event?"

biggrin

Gotta love group C

Good God! Is that a 917? No, wrong shape rear ... 956?

Where abouts in Yorks are you? Don't suppose you fancy bringing it to one of the monthly pub meets ... or even better, one of our Dawn Raids biggrin

For a car like that I would have an extension built onto the end of the kitchen ... with a glass wall!

Ah, so it has all the looks of a Le mans racer and all the benefit of being road useable? i think I'd really quite like one of those ... even better looking than, dare I say it Dave's Mosler or a Saleen.

With about 700bhp I wouldn't call it useable but bloody lovely all the same. There was an article in EVO about one copied here http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&...
If I had a spare million euros (and big balls) I'd have one smile One of the best looking race cars ever.

its the Derek Bell edition Porsche 962 (now road registered), only 1 in the world, built in carbon fibre so its light at only 850 kilos, & ever so slightly ridiculous on the road!...blows the cobwebs out though! Mr B.

Yeah, they were noisey alright, but you should hear a Sauber-Mercedes C9 - now that's an engine noise. Watched a bit of group C racing as a teenager and was in the pits at Brands (one of the last 1000kms I think) when the Mercedes crew fired up a C9 - my ears were ringing for days!! Can't wait for June!!

I'm still a bit deaf in my left ear from standing too close whilst the Sauber team "warmed the fluids" in the pits before the 1000kms race. Great memories of the silver arrows............really hope there is one at the race.

Ahhhhh a man after my own heart! That engine note has to be my all time favourite sound, closely followed by the AMR1 and the the Mazda, god that was an awesome noise!

Those were the days cloud9
