ford focus tdci loss of power

Hi all

I have a problem with my 2003 focus tdci it seems to lose power at 3000rpm then kicj back in again , as well as excess smoke ou the back.

Ive heard it coul dbe the EGR valve but im not sure can anyone help?

I had a 2003 TDCI Focus, could never pull the skin of a rice pudding, complained, complained, complained to the serviceing Ford dealer (it was a lease car) they never fixed it always said it was fine (no fault codes). One month later I took it to a different Ford dealer for the first MOT.... It failed, emissions! New EGR and Turbo, new MOT certificate and pulled OK there after.

mmm i think its the erg valve, i had a new turbo not long ago i hope its not that again!

any idea how much a new erg valve costs?
