We use http://www.hifx.co.uk for large amounts. Get quotes from several transfer companies, I'd be surprised if your bank is competitive though.
And, as already said - not a good time to be buying Euros :-(

We used a exchange company recently, and in reflection I wish we had gone straight through our bank. On a £100k I think the cash advantage was sub £400 going with the exchange company, and the extra grief, hassle, checks, forms, phone calls, chasing and hassle for 10 days while the transfer went through was defiantly NOT worth it. Have a nice chat with your bank and see what they can offer you. Good luck whatever you choose.
