Well, my airbag light has come on and just stays on, it doesn't flash to indicate a code or anything. So I took it to a garage to have the fault code read. Apparently its a code 1342, airbag ecu eeprom failure what ever that means.

I had the fault cleared and it stayed off for the remainder of the journey home (about an hour), once parked up for a while and the vehicle cooled down, the light came back on. This is something I've noticed since it came on, when cold I get the light and it stays on. Once warmed up, restart the car though and the light doesn't come back on. Could this be an earth fault?

I'm thinking I need a new airbag control module, but if its a simple earth I'd like to try that first. I'd also like to replace the module myself and just have ford program it to save on labour costs. Only, where is it? I looked in a haynes manual and it wasn't very helpful at all!

So, can anyone suggest whether its going to have to be a new airbag ecu or if it might be something cheaper like a reprogram? And if a new module, can I swap it myself, if so, where is it located please?

I tried a ford garage and they weren't very helpful besides wanting to re-read the fault code that I already know and charging me for the privilege.

Also, has anyone known these lights to come on with this model due to just disconnecting and reconnecting the battery? as some kind of odd safety check thing?

Could you tell me where the module is located?

I can't find any information on it. I'd like to check the earth and connection on it, or replace the control unit if necessary.

It would be much appreciated,
