Hi guys
I am doing my homework for my next trackday tool. I have had a number of loti and I am looking fora new challenge! I do like the idea of a car with downforce - something new to master! So a radical would be an easy choice but I had a look at the online manual on radicals website and there seem to be a lot of parts that have 30 hr lives or need refreshing after 30 - 60 hrs. So say you do 10 trackday per year and average 3 hrs running at each you are have got a fair bit of work to do over the winter! Granted trackdayhours will not be the same as race day hours. What sort of level of cost would be representive of what I have discribed. Also there seem to be a few horror stories with 2nd hand cars having not had the tlc with their previous owners. Have peeps had better experiences with buying 2nd hand through the factory?

Cheers j

I think the SR4 manual mentions 90 hours track day use vs 30 hours racing use.

I think the 30 hours for everything is more to do with radicals profit than anything else!!!!!!!!

30 hours max (race or trackday) for the 1500 busa imho

Everything else just needs looking after. If you throw it in the garage after a trackday and don't touch it until the next it'll probably let you down. If you take the time to go through it after each event it'll last longer and be a whole lot more reliable. Bottom line is its a race car, thus needs a bit more maintence than your average trackday hack.

Yep but as Rob says you have to keep on top of things with regular oil changes and spanner checks before\after each TD. If you go for a chain driven version sprockets and chain needs regular inspection. Our previous track day 1100 clubsport did two seasons of track days and well over 90 hrs on the engine without any serious problems. Its also worth mentioning that if you are looking for a two seater the SR3 offers much more room than the SR4.

SR3 has a Radical\Quafe axle\diff no chain. I have not seen a s\h K series car for sale, v expensive new from Radical!! If you go for a Radical because its a race car even a clubsport is super fast compared with modified road cars, Porkers, Caterfields etc etc. Cheers

Chain drive is fine again so long as its maintained, I've done two seasons now and never suffered a chain failure.

Radical will sell you a SR5 fitted with a K20A, but you might want to be sitting down for the price smile
