Thinking of remapping my 2007 S3, the bluefin device looks good, but I was wondering if anyone has anything bad to say about it, obviously it would invalidate the warranty, but has anyone had any problems with superchips either specifically on this car, or on any other types of car.

Has anyone ever tried to claim off superchips own warranty, if so why, how did it go etc?

Had my A6 3.0Tdi superchipped. Extremely pleased with the result, would recommend them. Going to have the A8 done soon, considering Bluefin as I believe it is reversible for servicing, etc.

Do your research very carefully before selecting Superchips specifically...

Dr G,

This is why I am asking the question, you imply you have some (bad?) experience of them, can you elaborate?

I cant find much negative comment on the various forums I have looked at.

I think people are worried about the naming and shaming policies.

I have heard bad things myself but if you want to hear of some first hand experience then e-mail Vixpy1 through his profile and ask him: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?mem...

Just been googling about and couldnt see any obvious stories about engines exploding/failing after being superchipped.

In the late 90's a mate had an imported impreza, which he had 'chipped', it then blew up shortly afterwards, but his wasnt done by superchips. I think the chipper just upped the boost without changing fuel, so it ran lean and burnt a hole in the piston. I gather this was a common way of chipping turbo cars back then.

Although I havent had my tdi chipped I have chatted to the MD of ABT about the process involved in their chipping and would preferably take it to them as they do a before and after check on the engine to make sure it is suitable to chip and that it shouldnt do any damage. The ofset though is that there chips dont always achieve the highest output but yet again they believe safer is better.

Also very friendly and helpfull he even offered to have his guys retrofit cruise control on my car for a very reasonable fee.

I'm not.

Superchips are well known for promising much and delivering little. I know of cases where the performance figures for the car were actually less than they were before they were "chipped".

I wouldn't touch them with someone elses barge pole. Use one of the reputable VAG tuners, there's enough of them out there.

Well that's basically what Charlie would say in a nutshell, and he is a very reliable source given that he runs a rolling road.

Why not give APS in Brackley a try? Failing that MRC have a fantastic reputation with Audis and they are based in Banbury.

cheers for the info, I'm up in Manchester , but I still havent decided whether to go for a remap or not.

I really could do without any potential headaches caused by a remap, and on that front I'm an advocate of keep it standard, but on the other hand I feel this particular car would be so much better with a remap.

Anyway, thanks all.
