Freelander & Car Protect Warranty

Head Gasket blew up yesterday car towed to Car Protect recommended garage to do work. They luckily do loads on Rovers and have said they can do the work. However Landrover now recommend apparently modified bits ( pins I believe and push rods )and pieces to sort out the head gasket problem. The small print in the doc says original components, not modified despite Landrover saying you should use modifications to stop the same problem occuring.

Total bill is £850 and Car Protect say they will cover £370. I have said to garage why not just put the original components in and if it blows again I can claim again.

Thoughts anyone?

land rover provide a new kit

they call it the "modified" head gasket kit.

we had it fitted on ours, looks like it has a few wextra pipes with it too aswell as the metal dowels.

if the rover place are using original parts they will get this one from landrover, if they dont know the difference between this and the old one id run a mile!
