50th Celebrations - Cadwell Park
Discussion
Having just started racing in G20s this year with the Team PH Ginetta, I was wandering if any other PHers are heading down for the celebration? As I am pretty new to Ginetta ownership (coming from MGs) it would be good to meet a few PHers with a bit more knowledge on the car and setting one up for going quick round tracks.
I will be there early for the testing on Saturday and the racing on Sunday, so if you are there come and say hello... You can't miss the PH-ness of the car

There are a number going as far as I can tell, unfortunately I am away so have to wait to the second Ginetta Festival later in the year. The owners club are also arranging something at Mallory Park. It would be worth you joining the Ginetta owners club, its only £25 pa, you may then find out a bit more about whats going on. The GOC also runs a speed championship doing hillclimbs and sprints, so there are always a few Ginettas at these events.I will be there early for the testing on Saturday and the racing on Sunday, so if you are there come and say hello... GOC website is www.ginetta.org
Not many of the racers seem to join the owners club, which is a shame, I can only think its because thay have no interest in the marque, all they want is a cheapish race car.

Surely you mean up ??!! Unless you live in Scotland. Its a shame that both events are taking place well into the north of England. I would have thought that one event north and one event south would have been a better idea. Or just one more central to enable more people to go.
Sorry, didn't mean to steal your thread !! Hope all goes well with your racing, saw a bit on the telly from Brands the other day with the juniors doing battle. Its great their getting some decent coverage, I think Ginetta just might be on the up !!

RacingPete: I'm a former (and future?)G20 racer, and I will be at Cadwell on Sunday. Really looking forward to seeing the G50s around there. I'll come and check you out, but I'm not sure that any of my remaining wisdom will make you go any faster.
nicktowe: Regarding G20 racers and GOC membership - I'm not sure what the current situation is but back in the early days of G20 racing, one of the drivers who was a GOC member and came around the paddock promoting membership. A short time later, at the Newark Kit Car Show, I visited the GOC encampment for a chat. When I mentioned that I had a G20 race car, they reacted as if I had just farted! I didn't join.

Please dont let that put you off. The club could do with some fresh blood and enthusiam from its members. Problem was some die hard Ginetta fans refused to acknowlege anything post the Walklett brothers as a real Ginetta, which is very self defeating. This however was blown out of all proportion, as most enthusiasts simply enjoy the cars for what they are. There is also only so much "blah" you can say about cars produced pre 1990(ish), so some fresh chat would be great. The current club committee has made the point it welcomes everyone with a G badge or Dare. No more farting in public I hope !!

The club seems to be improving in this respect and they certainly seem to have a better mind set when it comes to the racers, and the newer cars.nicktowe: Regarding G20 racers and GOC membership - I'm not sure what the current situation is but back in the early days of G20 racing, one of the drivers who was a GOC member and came around the paddock promoting membership.
