They are very reliable cars and have a bomb proof engine. They do however need regular oil services, i.e. every 6000 miles.
The only common fault I can think of is that with age they are more prone to suffer from boost leaks, but this can be easily remedied with Samco Boost hoses.
They really are a Wolf in Sheeps clothing and a joy to drive (so long as you don't factor in fuel consumption!).
Pop over to the S2forum, as previously stated, and they will let you know all you need to know about them.
Oh and a re-map and 3" straight through exhaust can see you over 370bhp with an awful lot of torque!

Never heard that before. Besides, Audi never offered a factory towbar on the RS2. ECU settings alone would strugle to bring an S2, let alone an RS2 down to 200bhp.Found it, it was in the March issue of Audi driver mag, it was a article about the engine in the RS2, it says:-

This power restriction was believed to protect the clutch against overloading, but it may also have been to prevent drivers from towing a trailer at 160mph.
