We have another 'getting older' thread running. And yet another weight training thread too.
I fully expect this thread to peter out into nothingness, but it is a thread I almost started a few times over the last year or so, so here goes anyway.
Is anyone else man enough to start, and/or anyone else be keen seriously pursuing, an online challenge as such, in which we get ourselves in shape. I work from home, dont really have time to trek to the gym and back regularly but do have a little time to work out from home.
I dont play any sports, find it hard to motivate myself, and have no local friends who are (currently) into working out.
I flit between buying healthy low fat foods, and then binging. My main problem is sticking power and not being able to motivate myself, by myself, to achieve the changes I want to achieve.
Not sure how to say this without sounding like a gayer, but how about a photo challenge for 6 months to start with. One photo a month (mid section/shoulders) and a thread or perhaps private forum in which we learn from and encourage each other. I could knock up a dedicated website/forum if the consensus was to keep this a private affair.
I dont have a brother or best friend who would drag me down the gym regularly, do find it hard to motivate, imagine we'd benefit being part of a group effort, dont have time to go to the gym (etc) and at this particular moment in time this seems like a good idea.
It did take a bit of balls to post, so keep the thread serious/sensible. What say ye? Who might be up for it?
please dear God, spare me from the tumbleweed

I was given the challenge by the missus to put on 20lbs in 7 months and she had to lose the same. She's pissed it and looks great, me- I've lost 6lbs I just have a high workload and a youngster so finding that my energy levels are at rock bottom- I feel f ked 24/7.

Good idea bob. I'm game having recently started dieting thanks to inspiration from my other half doing the same. Going well so far after a few weeks.

Count me in, was thinking that I'd pretty much gotta get in gear otherwise I'll be a scrawny bugger again on the beach.
Shattered my kneecap a couple of years ago, lost loads of weight and it still isn't comfortable, but then hopefully some training will strengthen the joint back up.

I'd be up for that. I've just started running again but I tend to binge on that too. Eating healthily appears to be a problem for me too.

Buster Bakdorzin said: please dear God, spare me from the tumbleweed I've got a head start - 7lbs and 2 inches off my waist simply by cutting out booze most nights and eating a bit more sensibly. There is a man on here who's done phenomenally well. I'll PM him to see if he's up for it

I should also probably do something on the fitness side. I made a start and stopped smoking last week...I've just completed my first 7 days sans cigarettes for about 15 years!
Anyway, I've got access to a gym next to the office and I could probably put 2 sessions a week in if I put my mind to it.
Motivation is key..

I'd rather not be posting photos though- a photo can look different depending on angle, I would post measurements and weight will it be like weigh t tchers and you have to pay a fee to charity if you don't make your target each week?

I have lost 18lbs since Jan 1st (baby weight) I have also just started running as I am doing the Race for Life for Cancer Research on May 11th so I'm hoping that will help shift some more.

I'd join in this challenge as I really need to do something but I'd only cheat by drinking 2 litres of lemonade for the before pic...(well bloated) and then sucking myself in for the after pic.

Good for you, a friend is doing this You do know if you post up pics you wouldn't live it down. Unless you become really, really toned. Anyway, good luck, am off to do some exercise now.
