I am wanting to replace the leather momo (270mm) QR steering wheel on my R300 for track and road use. The leather one is a bit slippy for me and a bit fat for my small hands. size wise it seems ok, but I like my tapered wheel in my 911 and fancy something like that but in suede for grip.

I can't decide which model in the Momo range to go for. they are all pretty much the same price, so its not a cost issue. I don't have anywhere near me (I don't think) that has the range for me to try them, so I was looking at Demon Tweaks.

I quite like the idea of a flat bottomed wheel to get in and out easier without having to take the wheel off. or are they naff in a caterham ?

Model 26 in 260mm or 280mm in Suede seems my best choice, but isn't flat bottomed, or alternatively, Model 12 in 260mm version seems ok, even model 11 seems ok.

help ! I don't know which one will be best..

what does everyone else use ?

I know I will have to drill the holes myself and countersink to fit my LifeLine QR boss.

I used to have the Model 26 and this is quite popular amongst many 7 owners. Last year I changed to the model 12c (flat bottomed and open-ended at the top) and have found this to be very good.

Unfortunately, it's going to be down to personal taste as I guess you'll get many suggestions.

Why have a QR wheel if you'[re not going to take it off? Nothing make ingress/egress easier.

Not a Momo, but I use a Racetech suede wheel. Feels very nice. Possibly not quite as stiff as a Momo, but I like it. It's 260mm diameter, and the rim is 25mm as you look at it by 30mm deep.

I've got one of these as well, as it's the only wheel that lets me see the digital dash!

Be aware that you cannot race using open topped wheels (i.e. not a full rim), as there is an alleged potential risk that one of the 'horns' of the wheel could come through the helmet aperture in the event of a big frontal impact.

Personally, if the crash is heavy enough to stretch 3" harnesses by 12" then I think walking again will be enough of a concern....!

Hi, momo model 27 is the almost the same as model 26 but with the flat bottom! Got mine from GPR who also did Racetech and Sparco versions.
