Don't see that it matters, TBH. You're not forced to run it and it doesn't interfere with anything. Windows does the same with IE.

Assume you're talking about the PC version...

Go to 'Apple Software Update', got to 'Edit', got to 'Preferences', change update frequency from 'weekly' to 'never'!
