dont know if this is the right forum for this but i need some help -please bear with me on this (im not too technically minded with this sort of thing but can follow instructions ok)....

a couple of years ago i downloaded almost all my CD's (about 2000 songs or so) to my 'old shape' ipod (its the photo one if that helps?) and loaded i-tunes to my laptop etc....started adding new stuff as i go along.

i then got a virus/fault with my laptop and my friend had to totally 'wipe' my laptop (including i tunes).

i reloaded itunes from the disc and re-connected my ipod and now my library is all 'grey'...i can see the songs i previously loaded but cant edit/delete/copy them - to make things worse my ipod has been playing up (sometimes wont turn on/battery poor) and i am worried if it breaks i will 'lose' all the songs which took literally hours to copy from cd!!!

so, to summarise, HELP!

Use something like Yamipod to pull the songs from your ipod.

Other option is to (assuming you are using PC)

Enable iPod for disk usage

Enable "View hidden files" from folder options.

Open iPod in "My Computer" and copy all music contents from the iPod to a folder on your PC.

Open Itunes and then re-import the music to iTunes,

Then, learn your lesson and use iTunes backup facility to ensure that this can't happen again hehe
