I have just fitted some speakers into my bathroom and i am looking for a cheap in line volume control. A flush wall mount one of any kind.

I have seen a few online for about £30, but i mean a cheap inline one. Something i can put in the speaker wire so it works just like the type you get on headphones.

Any ideas or know of something i could adapt?

I have tried a normal light dimmer switch, but that just saps about 90% of the speakers volume.

You need an L Pad Attenuator, these maintain a constant impedance to the amp, usually 8 ohms, a normal potentiometer will not work. With a low impedance speaker circuit, say 8 ohms, you will generate quite a lot of heat if you pad it back. Make sure the pot you use can match the power you are putting into the speaker, say 20 watts. Make sure its not close to anything combustible!

This is the type of thing you want.
