Red Bonnet Blues
Discussion
OK, so I've finally found a nice subtle bonnet scoop which allows the bonnet on my wedge to shut all the way down without hitting the plenum. Having cut the hole (took a long time to pluck up courage!) the bonnet is now flush but has raised another problem.
Just off centre was a small "star" crack in the gel coat. This is where the rubber hose from the top of the flame trap is pressing against the bonnet. Does anyone know of a shorter flame trap (in chrome?) or one which has either an angled inlet or outlet?
And while I#m under the bonnet!! Where can I get a chromed/alloy header/expansion tank which fits further forward? I want to put the air-filter in the space above/behind the NSF wheel.
And finally! At the rear end of the plenum is a kind of elbow or valve which looks like it should have a pipe connected! What is this and is there something missing?
Cheers!

Glad you've had the balls to cut a hole out the bonnet to get the engine to close - I could never bring myself to do it!
The rubber hose that fits on top of the flame trap may be able to sit further down - see if you can trim any more rubber off with a sharp knife. I already did this a couple of years ago but I think I will go slightly further down.
The elbow you refer to (Providing its the one on the plenum I have pictured below) should be like this. It was blanked off long ago - I had similar concearns when the engine was originally fitted in the wedge. I think it used to be attached to the brake master cylinder. No doubt someone will be along very soon to say exactly what it is for.

Thanks 4 that! Unfortunately the bit I'm talking about is at the rear of the Plenum, large bit bolted on. (sorry, can't highlight the picture). Can't see anything attached on your picture, but there are a few bits in the way! Just under throttle cable where it joins linkage.

This bit?

Supposed to be the overrun valve. Often wondered about it, never seemed to affect the running of the engine so I never altered it.
er doesn't that normally have hoses attached going to the bit bolted to the head (egr valve ?) Never sure what all that does and often wonderdd if all could be removed

Here's a few pictures of my plumbing if it is of any help.

On mine the pipe from the overrun valve goes into the plenum near to the throttle butterfly and T's off into a metal pipe that runs under and around the plenum into the extra air valve. I also have a different attachment point for the brake servo pipe to your set up.
