Oh No . . . Now the roads are going to be flooded with Westfields, Ultimas, TVRs etc hehe

P.S. While I agree to be bound by these new rules, and did indeed click the button indicating this, it's a bit of a censoredcensoredcensored in the censored eye with a censoredcensored pointy censored stick. The Mods should, can, and do warn, suspend, and ban censored-tards so how does clicking that button help anything ranting

Sorry, not with you on how they came up with that value, considering the cars in mind need ownership for 4 years before selling, secondly I presume its the 2000 whine red Tuscan with the t440 front,I had no idea the Tuscan had aquired classic car status.

Only chance to sell and get full-ish value is to sell now to someone who intends to keep it for 4+ years and they then apply for an exemption to register it under this rule. I would value it less than Paul's Griff on Trade Me personally, but someone might pay more than that for it.

As for classic status among Wheeler-era TVRs... IMO the Sagaris will be numero uno for its styling, rarity, performance and because its the last TVR, followed by the Griff and then the AJP8 Cerbera.

I reckon a Cerbie body with an LS8 engine would be an instant classic eh, Don? In fact, the whole "it has to be a classic according to one of the named mags" is a little vague - if someone wrote an article / letter / advertorial praising such a mythical beast you'd be home and hosed! But yep, great news - interesting that they only had 35 responses to the consultation and interesting to see the limit of 200 (up from 50 I think). Right, off to see the extent of the flaking of my powercoating on the out riggers - been putting it off for far too long.

Yep, it's excellent. I wonder when we'll see the first 'sponsored' article. hehe

Ditto that. I am glad the rule has now been announced, I have been waiting for the good news to get out for ages. Richard (Zaphod), I can't wait to see your 'immigrant vehicle' Chimaera out and about.

hehe Nope, mine's a bd child that no-one will love but me. All TVRs (original ones that is) deserve true classic status, I love 'em all but I've also got my favourites wink.

I've been thinking for a while there's no point in even trying to keep the rest of the Cerb original given the heart transplant and the fact there'll be plenty more real originals here before too long. I'm looking at making it more motorsport oriented - competition seats (original ones are GT-luxurious and heavy as hell), MANZ rollcage to replace the non-compliant factory one, bit of subtle aero like a splitter and diffuser (but no wing)...

I'm rapt that this change gives me a route to get my project on the road either as a motorsport vehicle or a Special Interest Vehicle, but a bit worried about how loose the definition of a SIV is. As well as the magazine article ambiguity (they were going to include motoring websites too!) they also haven't made 'high performance vehicle' or 'coupe' defined terms. As a coupe is anything the marketers say it is these days (there's a 4-door Merc "coupe" now did you know) I can see some debate coming around that. The 200 permits per year allocation is better than the 50 in the draft amendment but I think with such a loose definition it will still be oversubscribed.

Anyway... it could be better worded IMO but it's fantastic that it's there at all in these days where there's so little good news from Govt for petrolheads! Nice one Harry!

Does this new ruling circumvent the emissions rules as well as the frontal impact rules? Or will this get you by on frontal impact only to have you stumble at the emissions hurdle? (Given that Chims, Griffs, Cerbs and most Tuscans won't meet the current emissions restrictions, possibly only the post-2000 TVRs when they went to universal EURO3 standards will get through.

Yip if they dont get you with frontal impact regs they will eventually get you on emissions for near future imports :whofeckingknowssmilie:

The allocation of the 200 (given the likelihood it will be over-subscribed) is going to be the key. Hopefully the 'director' and his authorized representatives won't approve 100 old RX7's and 100 old Skylines in the first week of each year.

I've got my own ideas about how the allocation should work but I won't hold my breath.

I had understood the exemption would apply to emissions also, but no words to that effect in the rule... Dan M might have an answer for us on that one.

IIRC if you qualify for the FI special interest vehicle category, the emissions standards requirements get waived.

A similar system for LHD is in the early stages of development.

Yep, there's no mention of that in the amended FI Rule though. Perhaps a complementary amendment to the Vehicle Exhaust Emissions 2007 rule is coming?
