Anyone raced at Anglesey with a Prosport or SR4, looking for gearing recommendations please!

Did a sprint there last year in the clubsport, and I say you need a lot taller than 15 - 48, as even the poor little 1100 ran out of gearing quickly. If you are going on the "International" circuit you will probably need as high as you can go.

The single seater were maxing out at over 180MPH, would have done more if geared for it.

Is this on the current 'new' circuit? Where can *anything* do 180mph? Just curious.

180mph !!??, an F1 car wouldn't even hit 180mph at Anglessey !
In a Radical, you will hit 130 max (that's approx what I hit in an Sr3 1500)

That may be true, but the "big" single seater sprint cars are lighter and quicker than F1 cars and the guys I spoke to ran out of gears on the long curved "straight" of the GP circuit...

With my new engine (ZX14) I was doing over 130 MPH on the limiter at Croft on a much shorter straight. Speed calculated on gear ratios and engine revs, no no dodgy speedo connection involved.

Thanks for that Fella. If you are able to confirm which it is all the better, as I would much rather change the gearing in comfort in the garage than at the circuit!

Oh & well done on the result.

The 17 you refer to is that the standard fit front sprocket as I have no idea what's on my one? Also was that on the full GP circuit & was it after the layout had been changed, which I think was at some point last year from memory?

yes 17 is the standard front sprocket.is your rear sprockets split for ease of changing or in one piece? It was not the full GP circuit leaving out the [loop] but anyone i spoke to said the part we raced was great [last september] also they had no kerbs in so be careful not to drop a wheel off the edge!
I will look for gearing over weekend and let you know what i find.

Ctm, looking at my PR6 the front sprocket is infact a 16 tooth one, the Radical gearing guide shows all the guide choices based on a 16t front so I guess thats what they have as standard? Two races down so far, looking at the Rad gearing guide compaired to what i ran in the races, it looks like I'm down on power (get my excuses in early)!! Both times I used gearing one tooth more than the guide suggests & still it did not rev out in top?

you could go down to a 15 front but not lower as it is very hard on chains or up to an 18 front as i am currently on but probably no bigger.i am considering changing it to a 17 again for next weeks race.Going 1 tooth on the front = lose 2 teeth on the rear and so on {so i am told} Radical's gear guide is pretty good.what races are you entering as i intend to do some on mainland later in year?
