Hi all. Had a great weekend driving to Bournmouth (Hi to the driver of the Black Tuscan in the New Forest Saturday PM ), but...

Filled up on Sunday morning and then left the car parked at a friends place for a good few hours. Later on, I had packed the boot with all my stuff and when I closed the boot I heard a gushing sound and noticed a load of petrol pour out from a tube behind the rear wheel (passenger side). Made a couple of foot damp patch on the driveway. Nothing since though and drove home fine.

Do I gather that this is an overflow pipe and all this hot weather had caused all the petrol in a full tank to expand and hense overflow a bit?

Just need to set my mind at rest.

(Edited to make a bit more sense...I hope)

This hasn't happened to me with my S, but a few years ago I borrowed my boss's S3 for a long weekend (that's when I caught S fever! ) and this exact thing happened. We'd filled up and then parked outside a friend's with the driver's side wheels on the curb. Cue said pipe pissing a pool of petrol on the road! I put it down to parking at an angle having just filled up, but it was a hot weekend so that might have contributed to the problem.

Unfortunately I had to give the car back on the Tuesday morning, so I can't comment on any long term implications this might have had.
