just bourght an R reg gti but the powers disapointing me its completley standard bar a k&n i want a big gain in bhp im already hunting a mtx-75 box as ive already killed an ib5 im after sum advice wat the best route to go down is turbo or throttle bodies? baring in mind its a daily driver so needs to be reliable any one help me with this??

there are loads of companies that will turbo your zetec but u might be better off dropping in a 2litre lump 1st for an easy 130bhp and a better base to work from. depending on how the engine is built and with which componets and how much boost is used it can very reliable. you can get gains with throttle bodies but again it would be better to start with a 2litre and u will get no where near the gains of a turbo conversion.
try calling and asking for advice jamsport in northampton they are very experienced. could be very fast,wont be cheap though. buy a copy of fast ford or performance ford and they will have a list of all the ford tuners and probably a few examples in the magazine.

At a risk of sounding off-hand, sell it and buy a Mk1 Focus 2 litre. I suspect the insurance on a standard Focus would be quite a lot less than a modified Escort too.

If your Escort is feeling under-powered and you are determined to keep it, it may be worth spending a few quid to put it on a rolling road. The catalyst or exhaust could be blocked, the MAF may be out of calibration/dirty and the injectors could be tired. All sorts of things.

thanx for the tips i was thinking of a 2ltr conversion as the engine has got a fair bit of milage lol all i gota do now is source some parts... and some cash!
