new freelander?
Discussion
A 55 plate TD4 will be the most sorted of the Mk1 Freelanders. My missus had an 04 for over two years and it never missed a beat. Two annual services, two tyres and a set of front brake pads. It was used as a bus, a commuter hack, a dog transporter, an off road toy and was left at Gatwick long term parking numerous times.
Ignore all the nay-sayers who have an outdated opinion of them. (These tend to be people who rely on anecdotale evidence as fact and haven't lived with one - they probably still bemoan the lack of leaf springs)
The early ones were beset with issues, granted, but we're not discussing those. By the time the newer shape dash was released, the Freelander was a reliable and useful bit of kit. Their value has plummeted over the past year or so due to the Mk2, so a well equipped car can be found for a relatively modest sum.
