Speeding in Derbyshire.
Discussion
Hi Guys, this may be a coincidence, but it was on the local TV news this morning, that the police in Derbyshire are having a clampdown on speeding motorists, especially around any accident blackspots. With Chatsworth happening this week-end, it may be worthwhile being a little more vigilant and safe. Not that any of us break the speed limits of course!!! Hope to see you all there.

And for those who are not in the know.....Derbyshire use the Helicopter quite a lot in the fight against speeding.
Well thats a fantastic use of council tax payers money, (ie; mine). f

Derbyshire Police have got to be amongst the most annaly retentive, lazy, worthless, lying, pathetic scumbags I have ever had the disspleasure to meet.
Their collegues to the North, (South Yorks Police), just make them look like the Keystone Cops.

Anyone know if they have resorted to Wales style unmarked camera vehicles yet? Last sunday morning there was a blue Renault van with no markings but a flip up rear window and a lens poking out parked between Owler bar and Balsow. Either a twitcher or a bobby, I'm hoping the former. Same spot often occupied by a camera van though, which will no doubt be out this weekend!
Been there done that - best advice arrange the court date for the day before you go away on hols ! (although the court was surprised that anybody wanted to bring their case forwards!)
served my 4 week ban in france where you are able to hire a car as long as you use their insurance and only drive on french roads as technically you are only banned on english roads
I even asked my solicitor to clarify with the judge !
Although i didnt actually drive as thought it would be best not to tell my pals the above so my turn never came around to be the non-drinker and chauffer home after a skin full.
There is always a way around these things!

I think that both N.Wales Police force and this one may be trying out new ways to trap the motorist, however, these cannot be more than trials since the Dept Of Transport rules on Speed enforcement vehicles states:Para 48.
Vehicles from which enforcement may take place should be liveried and clearly
identifiable as an enforcement vehicle. Visibility of the livery should be maintained during enforcement, e.g. where it is necessary for the doors to be open, markings or livery should be apparent to approaching traffic in the direction of enforcement. If the enforcement officer is undertaking enforcement away from the vehicle, the enforcement officer should be conspicuous by wearing high-visibility clothing.
anyone caught by these vehicles could plead that the vehicles were not properly marked, and therefore not complying with the legislation, it would be a defence of sorts.

Now I am confused. Essex Police's favourite trick is a black shoebox size camera on a small tripod in a layby, with an unmarked van parked around the corner, usually at night. Para 48.

They've been using this the last 5 years and still are, usually on the A127.

Shame they don't have clampdowns on burglars, robbers, rapists etc..
Do you live in Derbyshire? The police are fine in my experience. Came out to my house today as we reported seeing an 'intruder' in our garden. Shame they don't have clampdowns on burglars, robbers, rapists etc..
I guess that the answer to my previous post is yes http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...
As a derbyshire tax payer I wish my moeny was spent on something useful for a change!

PLEASE dont speed around the Chatsworth estate roads - they are very dangerous ! Loads of sheep, deer, old people, kids, walkers, cyclists etc...... If you do speed then I guess this will be the last TVR meet at Chatsworth!
This is so true, in the last two years everybody has been well behaved and Chatsworth and myself were happy do it again this year, please everyone take the advice as not doing so could risk having another Chatsworth Gathering, well done GazzabGassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
